Océ sells 100th Océ JetStream press
Salmat Australia takes business colour print services to the next level
Venlo, The Netherlands, 22 September 2010 - Océ, an international leader in digital document management and delivery, today announces that Salmat Australia has reinforced its market leadership in business colour print services with the purchase of Océ JetStream high-speed, digital, full-colour inkjet technology. This enables the organisation to fast-track its customers’ TransPromo campaigns.
Flexible migration between two technologies
Salmat has ordered two Océ JetStream 2200 MICR models, the first two of the revolutionary presses to be bought in Australia. The order also represents the 100th Océ JetStream printing system to be sold, since the Océ web-fed inkjet press started delivery in summer 2008.
Sebastian Landesberger, Executive Vice President Océ Production Printing, said: “The sale of the two Océ JetStream 2200 models underlines Océ’s leadership approach in high-volume digital production colour printing. It also reflects Salmat’s confidence in the future of TransPromo printing.” The Océ JetStream units will be supported by two new
Océ ColorStream 10000 Flex digital printing systems. “The toner based printing systems will deliver flexibility and support to the JetStream purchase as the company converts to greater use of colour with a flexible migration policy between the two technologies,” Landesberger added.
Market leader in digital colour in Australia
Salmat has operated its business colour service since 2006. The company is recognised for quality output and its experience in producing large volume runs on a daily basis. This latest investment in the next generation of high-speed full-colour continuous printers will clearly establish Salmat as the market leader in digital colour in Australia.
The new Océ technology will support Salmat’s TransPromo service. This enables the company to deliver full-colour printing with variable data. Information printed on statements is analysed and repurposed so that marketing campaigns and offers can be made more relevant to each individual based on their transactions, behaviour and activity. It allows marketers to access every customer using transactional communication like statements and bills instead of those they can just afford to contact through direct mail or call centre activity.
Reasons for Salmat to select Océ JetStream
Salmat’s decision to select Océ follows a rigorous digital inkjet printing tender process. The Océ JetStream 2200 technology was chosen on the quality of its print, support for an extensive range of paper and its underlying hardware technology. In addition, Océ has a proven support plan in Australia. Its global capabilities have been recognised with the company achieving the industry’s largest number of inkjet units sold in the last calendar year.
“Océ provided the most competitive solution and demonstrated evidence of extensive product knowledge and application globally,” said Nick Debenham, Head of Salmat’s Business Process Outsourcing Division. “They are a leading provider of inkjet colour and their size and scalability will ensure we can access service and support locally. This will provide Salmat with a technology edge which will enable us to produce statements without base stationery and add personalisation to every document.”
Customers transition to colour
Debenham continued: “The new technology will enable us to create new business opportunities and grow revenue from our current customer base by transitioning clients to colour at market competitive pricing. At the same time, Océ’s speed and rich feature set will enable us to deliver effectively and reliably on TransPromo through blending conventional transaction data with corporate messages, customer-specific information and promotional messages from partners,” he said.
The Océ JetStream 2200 MICR is a digital, full-colour printing system capable of producing exceptional quality full-colour data including Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR) ink at high speed. The system uses a high-speed web-fed paper path to produce CMYK full-process colour output at a speed of 150 metres per minute which results in exceptional speed-to-quality ratio, maximum productivity and low total cost of ownership. Salmat will deploy two Océ JetStream 2200 MICR colour inkjet continuous printing systems, one based in Victoria and one in New South Wales.
Maximum TransPromo benefits for Salmat’s clients
“We’ll be able to use colour in real time for last minute promotional offers and print documents in line with specific demographic data. White space development will also enable Salmat’s customers to enhance the opportunity for marketers to maximise opportunities from the colour production process,” Nick Debenham said.
“In the marketing world, attention is the new currency. Customers spend more time with statements and invoices than any other marketing material. Our investment in Océ is significant and highlights Salmat's commitment to being the technology leader. We are now better positioned than ever with digital colour capability and when combined with our strong e-delivery infrastructure, can offer our customers the same ‘brand’ look and feel for their multichannel customer communications across all media. This latest investment in Océ will also enable Salmat to offer complementary markets such as variable catalogue publishing. We’re ultimately investing on behalf of our clients to drive their competitive advantage,” conducted Debenham.
