Océ adds the Canon imagePRESS colour series to its colour portfolio

The Canon imagePRESS colour series delivers the best of both worlds: stunning performance with dedicated support

Venlo, The Netherlands, 18 May 2010 - Océ, an international leader in digital document management and printing for professionals, today announced that it will add the Canon imagePRESS colour series to its colour portfolio, offering print professionals the winning combination of advanced digital colour technology and world-class Océ expertise, service and support.

imagePRESSp7_7000vp_straight_front_Model_D-news.jpg"With the Canon® imagePRESS® colour series, we are taking our digital colour portfolio to the next level, offering a real production digital colour press that delivers the best of both worlds - consistent colour performance backed by world-class Océ service and support,” said Jan Verschaeren, Executive Vice President, Océ Digital Document Systems.

The Canon imagePRESS digital colour press is the first Canon product that Océ will offer since joining the Canon family in March 2010. The Canon and Océ alliance, which creates the number one global printing company, combines a 130-year heritage of Océ customer-driven innovation, support and leadership in narrow and wide format printing with the vast technical and financial resources of Canon. The result is unmatched scale in research and development, manufacturing and distribution and the industry’s broadest choice of hardware, software and workflow solutions.

Teaming a built-to-last design with rock-solid steel construction, the Canon imagePRESS colour series is available in three models. The Canon imagePRESS C7000VP* digital colour press delivers vibrant colour output at a speed of 70 images per minute. The Canon imagePRESS C6000VP* and C6000* systems produce 60 colour impressions per minute. Both VP models feature exclusive technologies that maintain consistent speed on any supported media.

“The Canon imagePRESS colour series enables print professionals to boost satisfaction with consistent quality, confidently take on the toughest deadlines and expand their service offerings with unprecedented controller, media, application and finishing versatility," said Verschaeren.

Consistent colour quality with the look and feel of offset

Oil-free V-toner technology, together with advanced fuser, developer and media-handling technologies, true 1,200 dpi resolution, 256 gradations per colour and active registration technology enable the Canon imagePRESS colour series to produce predictable colour quality with the look and feel of offset, whatever the image, media or environment.

Non-stop productivity to take on the toughest deadlines

The Canon imagePRESS colour series delivers the ultimate in productivity with automatic duplexing on all supported stock. Eight vacuum-feed input trays with Enhanced Air Assist and Air Separation technologies supply 10,000 sheets of different stock, lifting paper with air and vacuum technologies for stable, friction-free paper feeding. Automatic multi-feed detection prevents jams from disrupting productivity.

On the output side, two high-capacity stackers provide unlimited output capacity to ensure continuous productivity. With on-the-fly refills, operators can load toner and media without stopping or pausing the printer. What’s more, production operations can power through demanding volumes with a system that won’t slow down for heavy media and won’t break down during monthly duty cycles of up to 550,000 prints. As a result, print providers can take on more jobs and turn them around faster.

Media handling versatility

With the Canon imagePRESS colour series, print professionals can always offer their customers the right choice of stock for the job. The digital colour presses adeptly handle coated, uncoated, offset, newsprint, labels and specialty media along with paper weights from 64 to 300 gsm and sizes up to 13 x 19.2 inches (330.2 mm x 487.7 mm).

Available in a variety of server, input/output, software and finishing configurations

The Canon imagePRESS colour series is available in several server, input/output and finishing configurations to meet a wide range of requirements. Print professionals can drive their digital colour presses with the front-end processor best suited to their job mix. Supported controllers include the market-standard EFI® Fiery® imagePRESS A1100**, A2100 or A3100 Colour Servers or the Creo® Colour Server A7000, ideal for graphic arts and variable data printing environments.

The system can be equipped with two high-capacity paper decks that hold up to eight paper trays of any supported stock, a document insertion unit, two high-capacity stackers, a professional punch unit, staple finisher, saddle stitcher or perfect-binder to support virtually any requirement that comes through the door. With outstanding media flexibility and a versatile machine that can do the job of many, print providers can expand their service offerings to include brochures, reports, catalogues, perfect-bound books and booklets, greeting cards, direct mail pieces, business cards, presentations, financial statements, manuals, directories and technical documentation.

Industry-leading inter-operability enhances productivity

Designed for seamless integration into industry-standard workflows, customers can direct existing applications to Canon imagePRESS digital colour presses without workflow interruptions or reprogramming, enabling these versatile colour presses to co-exist with or replace other systems in mixed environments.

With full Océ PRISMA® workflow integration, print professionals can further streamline workflow to produce more jobs faster with better quality and greater efficiency. Canon imagePRESS digital colour presses are compatible with Océ PRISMA®production, Océ PRISMA®access, Océ PRISMA®prepare, Océ PRISMA®satellite and Océ PRISMA®designer software.
