FULL PRESS RELEASE
Océ and Canon unveil first jointly developed digital production press
Venlo, The Netherlands, 22 March 2011 - Océ, an international leader in digital document management, and Canon, world leader in imaging solutions, today announced the introduction of their first jointly developed printing solution — the Canon imagePRESS C7010VPS series combining Canon colour digital technology with Océ PRISMA®sync operation management.
Excellent complementary fit
Canon first announced plans to acquire Océ in November 2009 and completed its offer for Océ in March 2010. Since then, Canon and Océ have worked to strengthen their customer offerings by leveraging the two companies’ excellent complementary fit in technology and product range.
First joint development
The companies’ first jointly developed solution combines Canon’s proven digital colour press technology of the imagePRESS C7010VP series with Océ PRISMAsync workflow innovation. The imagePRESS C7010VPS series takes colour production printing and workflow efficiency to the next level, offering customers the unique benefits of one integrated system.
Productivity for print professionals
The series introduces a number of unique productivity-boosting features, including an intelligent job scheduler, advanced colour management and an easy-to-operate, intuitive user interface on a new 15” full colour TFT LCD touch panel. The job scheduler supports up to eight hours of plan-ahead production. The accurate prediction of production time for scheduler functionality is possible due to the exceptional integration of engine and controller technologies. This full integration of digital front end with the engine into one system offers print professionals the convenience, run length and cost benefits of digital production.
Uniform and task-based workflow
By introducing the imagePRESS C7010VPS, Canon and Océ enable any operator to run complex colour jobs as easily as black & white ones with a standardised operating concept for PRISMAsync-driven colour and black & white production printers, such as the Océ VarioPrint® 6000 series. For integration into diverse workflows, imagePRESS C7010VPS is fully supported by Océ PRISMA software suites for creation, prepress and make ready, production management and archiving.
Milestone
The jointly developed product signifies an important milestone in the compelling combination of Canon and Océ as it is evidence of the existing R&D synergies, ensuring that Canon and Océ customers have access to leading technology in the industry. For print professionals in CRD and commercial printing, this means a platform that delivers offset-quality print and improves production efficiency with the convenience, run length and cost benefits of digital production.
Canon and Océ continue joint developments to serve more customers and markets. Next focus areas are solutions for customers in transaction and direct mail and the incorporation of Océ PRISMAsync operation management in a model from the light production colour series Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE.
On display in Washington and Barcelona
The imagePRESS C7010VPS is on display this week at the 2011 AIIM On Demand Exhibition in the US capital Washington, D.C. and at the Graphispag 2011 International Printing Industry and Communication Exhibition in Barcelona, Spain. Both trade fairs open today.
Jointly offering customers superior printing solutions
The jointly-developed solution signifies a first step for Canon and Océ as they further strengthen cooperative efforts in the technology and product fields. Aiming to become the global leader in the printing industry, the two companies will capitalise on their complementary strengths to offer a wide range of hi-quality printing solutions.
